DIRECTOR, FINANCE 

The Director of Finance is responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and day-to-day financial management. The Director of Finance oversees financial, budgeting, and operational processes, including payroll and benefits, with a focus on continuous improvement of internal processes.  

The Director of Finance reports to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and supervises Lead, Coordinator, and/or Intern level staff.   

Responsibilities 

  • Defines and develops VYF’s financial management strategies based on current organizational priorities, in coordination with VYF leadership. 
  • Oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and controls to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. 
  • Processes bi-weekly payrolls and 403b contributions.  
  • Prepares the annual operating budget in conjunction with the annual operating plan, for approval by the Board of Directors. 
  • Leads the ongoing management of budgets including forecasting, allocation, and monitoring of financial resources. 
  • Leads the preparation of financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and/or annual statements, for internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Ensures VYF’s compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local financial laws and regulations. 
  • Collaborates with leadership staff to oversee budget management, accounting, and financial reporting.  
  • Collaborates with development and leadership staff to develop budgets for funding and grant proposals.  
  • Ensures proper allocation and tracking of restricted and unrestricted funds and individual donations in compliance with donor restrictions and regulations.  
  • Monitors and manages VYF’s cash flow, banking relationships, and working capital to maintain financial stability. 
  • Supervises, trains, and supports staff involved in financial operations. 
  • Leads the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.  
  • Manages financial risk mitigation strategies, including maintenance of organizational insurance coverage, investments, and safeguarding financial assets.  
  • Serves as authorizing official for all federal grants, to include responsibilities for tracking and reporting on all federal funding.  
  • Represents VYF in financial matters to external stakeholders, such as funding agencies and auditors.  
  • Oversees annual audit, to include procurement of auditing firm and provision of all necessary documentation and reporting.  
  • Liaises with Treasurer of VYF Board to ensure compliance with all financial procedures. 

Qualifications 

  • Education may vary; a master’s degree in business administration (MBA), Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.  
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in a leadership role within a non-profit organization. 
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing financial budgets. 
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting. 
  • In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and non-profit accounting practices. 
  • Experience with financial software (e.g., QuickBooks or other non-profit accounting systems).  
  • Significant experience with federal grant management, including proposal development, budget management, and reporting. 
  • Ability to creatively solve challenging problems without extensive structural or operational support. 
  • Detail-oriented collaborator capable of taking ownership and initiative. 
  • Ability to foster an environment of healthy working relationships and inclusivity among staff and partners to maintain a positive and collaborative workspace. 
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills and ability to work well with leadership, staff, and other key stakeholders.

This position may require periodic travel involving overnight trips.  

Compensation and Benefits
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and ranges from $100,000 to $130,000 in addition to a benefits package covering 100% of employee medical, dental, and vision premiums, employer retirement contributions (403b), short- and long-term disability, and generous paid time off, including parental leave.

Director, Education

The Director of Education is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of educational programming, events, and curricula for stakeholders and partners, such as Promotores/Community Health Workers, patient advocates, strategic partners, and healthcare providers.

The Director of Education reports to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, and supervises Lead, Coordinator, and Intern level staff.

Responsibilities

  • Defines and develops the organization’s educational programs based on current organizational priorities in coordination with VYF leadership.
  • Oversees the development, implementation, and sustainment of educational programs and resources aimed at increasing public awareness and knowledge of vaccines and vaccine-preventable diseases at local, regional, state, and national levels.
  • Plans and develops curricula in partnership with VYF team members and uses evaluation results and performance metrics for continuous improvement.
  • Designs and implements evaluation strategies for educational programs and initiatives to demonstrate success and impact.
  • Engages directly with key stakeholders and partners to identify post-secondary learning needs for priority populations and audiences.
  • Provides opportunities for post-secondary learning for stakeholders, partners, and patient advocates through virtual and live educational courses and curricula, webinars, symposia, etc.
  • Supervises, trains, and supports select VYF team members involved in programmatic activities.
  • In collaboration with VYF leadership, coordinates vaccine-related educational opportunities for VYF team members.
  • Liaises with VYF leadership and department teams to promote and market VYF’s educational programs, events, and resources to stakeholders, partners, and appropriate audiences.
  • Represents VYF to key external stakeholders, through formal and informal presentations, speaking engagements, and attendance at conferences and other meetings, as necessary.
  • Oversees VYF participation, attendance, and exhibitions at conferences.
  • Supports the development of programmatic information for funding proposals and reports.

Qualifications

  • Education may vary; a degree in public health, science, or education is preferred, but not required.
  • Seven to ten years of related work experience developing successful educational programs and initiatives.
  • Extensive knowledge of the public heath landscape.
  • Excellent qualitative and problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
