The 2026 State of the ImmUnion Provides a Policy Roadmap

Every year, Vaccinate Your Family publishes our State of the ImmUnion brief. This annual report not only outlines the current state of immunization in the United States but communicates directly to policymakers, highlighting concrete actions they can take to better protect our communities from vaccine-preventable diseases.

The past year has been a very challenging year for vaccine policy and outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases. Across the U.S., we are seeing increasing outbreaks of measles and pediatric influenza deaths.

“Vaccinate Your Family started 35 years ago to respond to a measles outbreak that killed more than 120 Americans. Since then, we have been working to educate families and protect communities from vaccine-preventable diseases. In all my years working in vaccine policy, the lack of federal leadership has never been so risky to our nation’s children. We all want a healthier America, and vaccines are one of the best ways to help achieve us that goal.”–Amy Pisani, Chief Executive Officer

At Vaccinate Your Family, we know these numbers are not just statistics, but real-life stories of real families and real communities impacted by disease. We also know that data continues to demonstrate the majority of American parents continue to support vaccines.

Because of this, Vaccinate Your Family is urging Congress to:

  1. Increase critical funding for Section 317 Immunization Program
  2. Protect and improve compensation programs for the rare cases of vaccine injury by supporting changes to strengthen the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP)
  3. Conduct effective oversight of the Department of Health and Human Services to ensure decisions that affect public health and immunizations follow proper protocols and are based on true gold standard science
  4. Amplify the importance of lifesaving vaccines and on-time vaccination with your constituents and colleagues

Please join us in urging Congress to protect our communities by sharing these recommendations from our report with them.
