Stacy B. Buchanan, DNP, MSN serves as an Assistant Professor-Clinical Track with Emory University School of Nursing, splitting her time working in the Nursing Research and Evidence Based Practice department at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Her clinical practice is completed by working as needed in her pediatric nurse practitioner role in a local pediatric urgent care. With twenty years of experience, she has educated families and promoted healthy lifestyles for all patients. In her role as clinical faculty for pediatric nurse-practitioner students, she instructs and mentors them to develop their skills as an advanced practice provider. In the clinical setting, she provides opportunities for them to model effective communication when dealing with vaccine hesitant families. Teaching them to listen attentively and recognize the unique ethnic and cultural barriers impacting vaccine decisions. It is her belief that all children should receive timely vaccinations according to the vaccine schedule.
Stacy earned her DNP from Georgia State University Byrdine F. Lewis College of Health Sciences and her MSN from Emory University Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. She is a current Sigma member and serves as a team captain for the annual local ALS United Walk. Traveling and spending time with family brings her joy.
