Lives Are At Stake: Join Advocates in Demanding Oversight

On January 5, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) leadership announced major changes to their childhood immunization schedule—changes made without the usual scientific review or public‑input process.

This is deeply concerning. When decisions are made about vaccines and immunization recommendations, we must remember what is at stake: the real‑life impacts of vaccine‑preventable diseases.

We work every day with parents who have lost children to influenza (flu), meningitis, and other preventable illnesses. We stand beside survivors whose lives have been forever changed. Their stories are a powerful reminder that the diseases vaccines prevent are not abstract—they are devastating, often deadly, and leave families shattered. When immunization recommendations shift without evidence or transparency, it’s families who will bear the weight of the consequences.

Hear from advocates Francesca Testa, a meningitis survivor, Dr. Jeb Teichman, who lost his adult son Brent to flu, Serese Marotta, who lost her five-year-old son Joseph to flu, and pediatrician Dr. Flor Munoz as they explain the devastating impacts of these changes.

Vaccinate Your Family, Families Fighting Flu, and the American Society for Meningitis Prevention Pen Letter to Secretary Kennedy

Vaccinate Your Family, together with Families Fighting Flu and the American Society for Meningitis Prevention, sent a letter to the Secretary of Health and Human Services. We have asked him to meet with our advocates, who are eager to discuss what these changes mean to families affected by these diseases, like influenza and meningitis. We ask that our public health leaders be willing to hear directly from individuals and families who know what is at stake: children’s lives, community safety, and the trust parents place in evidence‑based health guidance.

We are already in a severe flu season, and the country has seen record‑breaking outbreaks of vaccine‑preventable diseases. Communities cannot afford policies that put them at even greater risk.
