Vaccinate Your Family is deeply concerned by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) December 4-5, 2025, meeting and its impact on Americans’ vaccine confidence and vaccination coverage rates. The recent decisions made to change the hepatitis B recommendations–without any new evidence or data indicating a safety signal–will harm our nation’s children.
During the meeting, ACIP members and senior officials of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) suggested that hepatitis B birth dose vaccination, and other childhood vaccines, are not safe and are not monitored for adverse events. We know this is not true. Extensive research across the globe continues to demonstrate that the benefits of vaccines outweigh the risks. Additionally, speakers failed to acknowledge the multiple, interconnected, robust vaccine safety systems that continue to monitor and respond to safety signals.

We echo the concerns of the liaison representatives, ACIP members, and CDC staff who questioned why ACIP revisited the hepatitis B immunization recommendation without offering comprehensive scientific evidence to inform a vote on a long-standing and effective birth dose recommendation. In response, the Committee suggested they are reviewing the recommendation because of feedback from selected parents, suggesting that instead of responding to the science and medical data, ACIP is responding to the voices of the anti-vaccine movement and ideology.
Using cherry-picked data, rushing votes without transparency in their language, and failing to properly evaluate data using a comprehensive framework is not gold standard science or radical transparency. It is dangerous for the health of American children, and the decisions made today will create confusion among the public and provider community while sowing distrust.
This confusion will lead to lower vaccination coverage rates, which will ultimately lead to more disease, more cancers, and more deaths. We condemn the actions of the Committee and the use of a platform of a Federal Advisory Committee to endanger the health of America’s infants and families.
