Dr. Aaron Scherer, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Dr. Scherer has graduate and post-graduate training in social psychology and health risk communication with a research program focused on identifying and utilizing insights from the psychological sciences to create and evaluate innovative risk communication-based interventions to improve the utilization of healthcare services. Dr. Scherer led the Healthcare and Public Perceptions of Immunizations (HaPPI) Survey Collaborative (https://osf.io/zvw28/overview), which designed and conducted surveys to inform recommendations made by CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), and was a member of WHO’s Behavioral and Social Determinants of Vaccination Work Group, making him well-suited to contribute to our Board’s efforts in vaccine advocacy, outreach, and education.
